Union County Chapter Board:

Heidi Ball
Choosing to give my time to this wonderful organization was a natural fit for me. I have been blessed in my life and want to share that blessing with families in need. It saddens me that there are so many families within my own community who are struggling to get food on the table, especially at Thanksgiving time. I feel like it is my duty to serve them as I am able. Plus, I want to teach my children about serving others through actions, instead of just words. I look forward to seeing our chapter grow this year and in the future.
Lia Pickel
Vice President
After several years of working “traditional” jobs in the sales and marketing field, I decided to start my own business. I quickly fell in love with entrepreneurialism – especially as I realized the opportunities it would afford our family… the ability to give and live more! A mission trip to Africa gave me an even deeper perspective – and a stronger desire to help those here in our local community. In 2019, I cofounded Feed the Kids Columbus. Our organization has since provided supplemental meals to thousands of children, throughout central Ohio, during extended breaks. I look forward to continuing the mission to serve many many more!

I’m excited to be starting the Union County branch of the Byron Saunders Foundation.

I’m a retired Air Force officer and am currently working for Big Brown, otherwise known as UPS.  I got started volunteering at an early age, helping my mom deliver food to families with Meals on Wheels.  Currently I’m Chairman and also volunteer with the Union County Personal Needs Pantry where we provide household goods/items to families in need.  I look forward to volunteering for this wonderful organization.

Tara Price
Tara resides in Columbus with her husband, son, and 2 dogs. In her free time, Tara is active in the dog rescue community where she volunteers, fosters, and is the Secretary for Powell Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

Given Tara is from a small town, she is well aware of the need in communities to work together to support one another and help those who are struggling. Growing up as a child of a single mother, she understands many families do not have the resources they need. Her favorite holiday has always been Thanksgiving and as such, she wants to ensure that every family (and pup) has a warm Thanksgiving meal.

Karen Williams
Co-Fundraising Chair

A native Ohioan, Karen fell in love with nonprofits when she started her first professional job at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County some 30+ years ago.  Karen quickly develop a passion for charitable work and the resolve stuck with her through her years. Karen is currently working as a Business Development Manager with BMI Federal Credit Union and volunteers with the City of Dublin Police Department as a Community Service Officer. Karen and her family are happy spending their days keeping Ohio an amazing place to live, work and play.

Mindy Bisessi
Co-Fundraising Chair

“Sometimes it takes only one act of kindness and caring to change a person’s life”. No one should ever be without life’s essentials. Providing a Thanksgiving meal to a family who is struggling fulfills not only a physical need, but also provides love and caring when they need it the most.

I choose to be part of the Byron Saunders foundation to involve myself and my family in giving back to the community. Through hope, joy, and love we can all make a difference.

Jazzy Singh
Marketing Chair

I feel blessed to support this foundation because of its cause; helping families celebrate and enjoy festive meals on Thanksgiving. I know many families go by without Thanksgiving celebrations because of financial hardships or struggles. Being a mom, I have always taught my kids to be compassionate and be helpful to others. I believe that we all are capable of bringing a smile or happiness to families in need. It doesn’t have to be a big contribution, as long as we all do a little something, it could make a big impact on someone in need. Being a Real Estate Consultant, I feel fortunate to give back to my community. I am also looking forward to my kids learning the joy of giving back and volunteering in this foundation and experiencing the “feel-good feeling” of helping families make happy memories who would otherwise have no Thanksgiving celebration. The Byron Saunders Foundation is allowing me to do my part of making a positive change. I am looking forward to creating awareness and promoting, engaging volunteers for the foundation and its causes. I am positive that the Byron Saunders Union Chapter will grow and bless many families in need of meals on Thanksgiving.

Catherine Hufnagle
Volunteer Coordinator

My why, I am paying it forward because at times in my life I needed a hand and someone was there to help out. I am an avid volunteer in my community and I am Thankful to be part of an organization that gives back to the community where I live and work. No one adult or child should be hungry in our community.
